Buller's Shearwater © by Mike Danzenbaker Shearwater Journeys invites you to join us on one or more of our excellent pelagic trips from four different ports along the central California coast. This year marks the 33nd year of business for us in Monterey Bay. Over the course of those years, Shearwater Journeys world class leaders have made many new discoveries and records of seabirds for California and North America.
Our Monterey trips remain the "Classic" seabird experience, both for the beginner and advanced seabirder. Albacore trips from Monterey are best bets for finding Xantus' and Craveri's Murrelets in years when they appear. Three Albacore trips have now produced records of Streaked Shearwaters! Red-tailed Tropicbird has also been found twice on these trips. Fort Bragg and Bodega Bay trips, often run consecutively with a birding day on land in between trips, continue to wrack up the Meg-rarities, and to round out one's overall seabird experience. Our trip from Sausalito to the Farallon Islands is the single best trip to see the Tufted Puffins, and it sells out early every single year.
